Looking for something to do in the October half-term? Then why not come along to the National Memorial Arboretum on Monday 24th October for some story reading and story workshops? I will be giving an author talk at 10.30am, based around my collection The Ghost of the Trenches and other stories from the First World War. Then I will be running two creative writing workshops in which children can create their own stories about animals that played a part in the Great War. The workshop for 7- to 10-year-olds will run from 11.45 am to 12.30 and the workshop for 11- to 13-year-olds will run from 1.15 pm to 2.30 pm. Visitors will also have the opportunity to buy books and have them dedicated and signed.
So do come along and take part, or if just want to come and say hello, I look forward to seeing you.
The National Memorial Arboretum is running two other special half-term events. From Saturday 22nd until Sunday 30th October, there will be daily storytelling sessions from their very own ‘British Tommy’ (between 11 am and 2 pm), and on Friday 28th October from 10 am until 3 pm, children can learn about some of the crawly critters that were found in the trenches and make their own critters to take home.
