Author talks and creative writing workshops

No Stone Unturned

Sometimes ideas for stories can be found right under our feet. Find out where the inspiration for No Stone Unturned came from in an interactive session with its author, Helen Watts. This gripping historical mystery novel takes the reader back and forwards in time from modern day to the Victorian era and with a modern-day, teenage Traveller girl as its central character, it provides plenty of talking points, covering issues such as bullying, friendship.

In her Author Talks, Helen will reveal more about the events and places that inspired the book and how she blended fact with fiction and added a few surprising twists. She will also talk about the writing process, drawing on her background in editing and publishing.

Creative writing workshops usually include an author presentation, followed by a historical fiction creative writing activity, encouraging young writers to draw on places they know when building stories.

Sessions can be tailored to suit the age of the audience, group size and the time available and all include a question and answer session and the opportunity to buy books and have them signed by the author.
